Zum Alten Torhaus - Cafe Schwein in Cuxhaven

Unfortunately, we had to find out afterwards that we had been ripped off. We had to pay € 12.10 for a piece of flabby cake, a bag of tea and a watery coffee. A full pot of watery coffee is charged for a cup of coffee ordered. We cannot understand the good ratings. Rip off!!!

We had ordered a grill buffet with a large group. Because of the good weather, the 30 of us could sit outside very nicely and were perfectly cared for. The service provided us with drinks in a very friendly manner. The side dishes, the vegetables from the pan and the meat were of good quality, for the vegetarians they even offered grilled cheese! We felt comfortable and would like to come back.

It is a pleasure to sit together with the family again after the great Corona silence in a beautiful place in the penumbra of the trees, to be served nicely and to enjoy delicious cakes!

As part of a family celebration, we have taken here a lunch buffet on Saturday. The service was friendly and fast, the host witty and knowledgeable. As well as the various main dishes, side dishes and the dessert tasted very good. A tasteful ambience. To recommend.

Were in the old gatehouse for the first time this year. Since it has a good reputation, there was probably a larger company there. Nevertheless, the staff served us very courteously. The ladies went out of their way to assign a seat to every guest who came and to serve them as quickly as possible. Just great, although the 2 are probably not from the specialist in gastronomy. Some of the trained professionals in the catering industry can cut themselves off.

If I know it correctly, the castle Franzenburg stood near the today's gate house at the end of the 15th century. In the middle of the 16th century this castle was abandoned and demolished. Approximately One hundred years later, the well-preserved gatehouse with defense ditches was also built from the stones of the castle to protect the domain's buildings. In these not only historical but very cozy restored rooms you can eat in the 'Cafe Schwein', 'Zum alten Torhaus' indoors as well as outside in the beer garden. As a guest here you can enjoy it, that the host and the staff obviously run this house with a lot of passion and passion. As a local guide from me a recommendation for the holiday guest in Cuxhaven, Nordholz, Dorum or Otterndorf: ... they plan a bike ride from the z. B. about 10 km from Cuxhaven.
